About The Event
All homeschooling families within the Diocese of Norwich are invited for a Michaelmas celebration!
Mass at 10:00 am, celebrated by Bishop Reidy. BYO picnic lunch. Great fun and fellowship to follow, including large group games, a pie eating contest, face painting, and pinatas! RSVP required, please RSVP by Sept 22nd.
Traditionally, Michaelmas is associated with certain harvests and foods, from geese, to carrots, to blackberries. Tradition holds that when St. Michael cast Satan down, he landed in a thorny Blackberry bush, which he then spat on, and cursed. Since then, it's been customary to be sure to harvest and eat all the blackberries by Michaelmas! We will also have a pinata, offering our kiddos their own chance to slay Satan...in the form of decorated cardboard, filled with goodies!
